“Why Is My Water Heater Making a Popping Noise?”

Water heater maintenance
Why Is My Water Heater Making a Popping Noise?
Popping is usually sediment at the bottom of the tank. Flushing it once a year typically quiets the noise and extends the heater’s life.
Over time, minerals in hard water settle at the bottom of the tank. Water trapped beneath that layer boils as the burner heats, which causes the popping or rumbling you hear. Left alone, the buildup makes the heater work harder and can shorten its life.
Is a popping water heater dangerous?
Usually not, but it’s a sign the tank needs a flush. If you also notice leaks, a rotten-egg smell or no hot water, call a plumber.

How you pay
No invoice. A donation instead.
Risen is operated by Majesty International. Every project supports its work.
Instead of paying Risen, you give to Majesty International, a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit working with young people in Cambodia through trades-based education, entrepreneurial training and Christ-centered mentorship. We'll agree on the amount together before we start, based on the size of your project. Optional monthly services have set prices.
That money goes to work: rebuilding homes free of charge for the poorest rural families in northwest Cambodia, training young men in the trades on every build, and Khmer Hands, a hospitality-training enterprise in Kep where young people learn inside a working business.
