A fast-growing region

The Charleston-North Charleston metro grew from 799,631 people in 2020 to 889,263 in July 2025, an 11.2% increase.[1] North Charleston grew about 12.5% and Goose Creek about 13%. Moncks Corner grew about 55%.[2]

The trades are busy, and so is the competition. In 2023, Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties together had 1,480 specialty trade contractor businesses, 275 of them plumbing and HVAC contractors.[3]

What matters for a Charleston website

  • Name the islands and neighborhoods. People search by where they live: West Ashley, James Island, Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant. List the areas you really serve.
  • Lead with local specialties. Dock lights, storm-ready generator hookups, salt-air-rated fixtures. Show the work that's specific to the coast.
  • Show your license. South Carolina's LLR licenses residential builders and specialty contractors.[4] Put your number on the site and link to the lookup.
  • Use a service area if you work from home. Google's guidelines ask service-area businesses to hide their address and list the areas they serve.[5]
  • Make storms easy. After a hurricane or nor'easter, people need help quickly. A tap-to-call button and clear emergency information belong on every page.
